'THE MAKING OF EARFQUAKE'

A combination of stop-motion animation and After Effects motion graphics were used in this story to visually represent the auditory theories being explained. Inspiration for the style and palette was taken from cover art and videos created by the artist for the original song.

HURRICANE WATCH

Our goal was to show-off Miami’s talented athletes that often don’t get enough attention at a football dominated school -- from high divers to star golfers. These motion graphics designed in After Effects played a lead role in developing the energetic, sports-science style of Hurricane Watch.

Neon cutouts of the athlete's skill in action accentuated a bold, logo-adorned intro graphic to match the intensity of the theme song.

Callout graphics visually highlighted the techniques being described by the athlete.

I wanted a lonely, neo-noir style, in a dark, rainy version of Miami, but without the budget to rent out space (or really any budget at all), I developed a solution that involved building miniature sets and matching shots of the sets to shots of the actors in a greenscreen studio. The shots were combined and stylized in post production to complete the unique, mixed media style of this project.

A character's living room. Constructing sets large enough to appear lived in, but small enough to match the available studio space was a major obstacle.

The studio, the story's centerpiece location. Much larger than the available greenscreen space, scenes in this set were extremely challenging to piece together. Each of the 3 character's lines were filmed separately and pieced together and into the set in post. The sheer amount of layers in each project file...

The protagonist's bedroom. Each piece of furniture shown here was a part of the miniature set and could not be seen in the studio while filming.
